Children’s Tae Kwon Do
Children’s Tae Kwon Do
Tae Kwon Do has no age limits and is a very good sport for children. They learn fast reactions through games, learn to respect others and learn to know their abilities and disabilities.
When it comes to Sport Tae Kwon Do the competition rules are a bit different for children then they are for adults. Although children wear full body protection (preferably thicker than the protection for adults) only kicks and punches to the body are allowed, no kicks to the head are allowed.
Although self defense is one of the Tae Kwon Do disciplines, it it is not taught to the Junior students at the Rayton Tae Kwon Do Dojang. We feel that the Junior students have the abilty to disern when they may use the self defence techniques they have been taught.
Tae Kwon Do teaches children a wide range of skills ranging from concentration, balance and self discipline. There are a number of testimonies regarding the benefits experienced by children with ADD and ADHA who participate in Tae Kwon Do.
